Job DescriptionOur client, specialising in e-payments solutions, is currently seeking to recruit a Head of Compliance to join their team. The chosen candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the company's compliance and regulatory framework.Key Responsibilities:
  • Designing, implementing and maintaining an effective compliance programme that aligns with the organisation's strategic objectives, by establishing, maintaining and enhancing policies, procedures and controls to ensure compliance with regulations and license conditions.
  • Conducting risk assessments to identify compliance vulnerabilities and implementing remedial action where necessary and working closely with the Risk function to identify, assess and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Overseeing the ongoing monitoring of compliance with laws, regulations and scheme requirements and internal policies through conducting regular compliance reviews and audits.
  • Maintaining awareness of regulatory changes and ensuring that the organisation's compliance framework remains up to date and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Ensuring that all regulatory interactions are managed effectively and professionally, and preparing and signing off on specific regulatory reports and returns, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness of all submissions.
  • Developing, updating and maintaining compliance policies, procedures and guidelines across the organisation, whilst working closely with various stakeholders across the organisation, such as legal, risk management and operations, to ensure that policies are practical, comprehensive, and aligned with regulatory requirements and the organisation's business model.
  • Designing and delivering training programmes on regulatory compliance to all staff, including the Board of Directors and executive management, where appropriate whilst also promoting a strong compliance culture within the organisation.
  • Preparing and submitting regular compliance reports to senior management and the Board of Directors, summarising key compliance activities, risks, areas of non-compliance and recommended actions.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Compliance, Business or any other relevant field.
  • At least 10 years of working experience in payments or AML, compliance auditing and analysis OR experience as a Compliance Officer.
  • AML/Compliance experience within the financial services industry and complementary sectors such as crypto, e-commerce etc.
  • In-depth understanding of the Maltese and EU regulatory environment/policies/legal framework as they relate to Compliance, KYC, AML, Sanctions and financial crime risks.
  • Previous experience of building and mentoring other compliance teams and professionals.
