- Manage full-cycle payroll processing on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis
- Ensure accurate calculation of salaries, including overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions
- Review and approve payroll before final submission
- Handle off-cycle payroll runs, corrections, and adjustments
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws, tax regulations, and statutory requirements
- Manage payroll taxes, filings, and year-end reporting (e.g., tax forms)
- Stay updated on payroll legislation changes and implement required updates
- Lead, supervise, train, and motivate payroll staff
- Assign tasks and monitor team performance
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Manage payroll systems (e.g., Shireburn Payroll / Indigo)
- Oversee KPI reporting, sick leave, leave hours, and FS3/FS4 reporting
- Ensure accurate data flow between HR, finance, and payroll systems
- Produce payroll reports for finance, audits, and senior management
- Support budgeting and forecasting using payroll data
- Respond to payroll-related employee queries (e.g., salary discrepancies, deductions)
- Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll data
- Collaborate with HR on employee lifecycle events (hiring, termination, promotions)
- Maintain strong internal controls to reduce errors and prevent fraud
- Coordinate internal and external payroll audits
- Reconcile payroll accounts with the finance department
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems
- Advance Excel skills
- Understanding of tax laws and statutory compliance
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Finance or a related field
- 5 years experience in payroll with 2 or 3 being in a leadership role
- Experience leading large payroll runs
