The Data Governance & Strategy Senior Manager will oversee the design, implementation, and ongoing refinement of our Client's data governance framework. This role is critical to ensuring data accuracy, security, and ethical management in alignment with regulatory mandates and industry best practices. The role involves leading cross-functional teams focused on data quality assurance and compliance, whilst steering strategic initiatives aligned to the broader data strategy.Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Direction and Oversight: Develop and execute strategic plans that align the Data Governance section’s activities with organisational data objectives, compliance requirements, and sector standards. Lead stakeholder engagement and communication to mitigate data-related risks, maintain audit readiness, and coordinate the data council with regular reporting.
  • Team Management: Provide leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities for team members to foster growth and a culture of innovation. Establish clear objectives, monitor team performance, and ensure effective collaboration within the team and across departments.
  • Policy and Process Implementation: Supervise the application of data governance policies and processes. Contribute to the evolution and continuous improvement of the data governance framework and related documentation.
  • Compliance and Monitoring: Oversee monitoring and enforcement of data governance compliance, instituting corrective procedures when necessary. Design and maintain dashboards to track compliance metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Champion robust data quality practices by defining and implementing processes to regularly assess data consistency, reliability, and accuracy. Report on data quality findings and remediation progress.
  • Risk Management: Collaborate with the Risk division to identify, track, and manage data-related risks. Critically evaluate risk assessments from various data domains to ensure appropriate controls.
  • Change Management: Engage with stakeholders to assess and manage significant changes affecting the data governance framework, particularly those impacting regulatory data aggregation and reporting requirements.
  • Upskilling and Knowledge Sharing: Identify knowledge gaps and recommend targeted development to strengthen data governance competencies across the organisation.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree (MQF Level 6) in Data Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of seven years’ experience in data governance or data management roles, including at least two years in a leadership capacity overseeing data governance initiatives.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English is essential.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate complex data governance concepts clearly to diverse audiences and deliver impactful presentations.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Skilled at fostering collaboration and maintaining effective relationships across teams and stakeholders.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with data governance frameworks, regulatory standards (such as BCBS 239), data quality and catalogue tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Organisation: Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail, capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Self-Motivated: Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and the ability to perform confidently under minimal supervision.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the capacity to identify governance issues and formulate practical solutions supporting compliance.
