Heroix is supporting a distinguished player in the international education sector to recruit an experienced Accounting Manager. This Malta-based position focuses on supporting our Client’s Italian legal entities, acting as a key finance contact for statutory reporting, compliance, and operational accounting. Working from the Finance Hub in Malta, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, external advisors, and service providers to ensure smooth financial operations and uphold internal control standards. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a multicultural and evolving finance environment with long-term growth potential.Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Oversight: Oversee daily accounting functions and financial reporting activities for the Company’s Italian legal entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Month-End and Year-End Closing: Ensure trial balances, reconciliations, and close activities are completed in line with internal policies and deadlines.
  • Tax and Statutory Compliance: Assist in the preparation of VAT, Corporate Income Tax, and other statutory filings for Italy, in collaboration with third-party advisors.
  • Service Provider Coordination: Act as the primary liaison with outsourced service providers for Record-to-Report (R2R), Order-to-Cash (O2C), and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes.
  • Audit and Reporting Support: Prepare documentation for audits and internal reporting, while ensuring alignment with internal control frameworks and compliance standards.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
  • Education: A degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Engineering.
  • Experience: At least 7 years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally within a Big 4 environment or shared services setup.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. Fluency in Italian is essential.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in managing external advisors and service providers.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across departments and geographies.
  • Technical Skills: Solid grasp of accounting principles and controls. Familiarity with systems such as Oracle Fusion Cloud, ADP, or HCM platforms is beneficial.
  • Organisation: Capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Self-Motivated: Proactive, accountable, and keen to take ownership of deliverables and process improvements.
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical thinker who can resolve issues, suggest enhancements, and support transformation initiatives.
