Our client is seeking a dynamic and results-driven General Manager to lead their teams in the laboratory equipment and scientific solutions sector. Reporting directly to the Sales Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies, driving business growth, empowering and developing division teams, managing key accounts, monitoring tenders, and expanding the company’s presence across the academic, clinical, laboratory, and industrial markets.Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve and exceed targets.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and tenders within key sectors, including clinical diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, and R&D laboratories.
  • Manage and grow relationships with existing clients, distributors, and strategic partners.
  • Lead, empower, and support teams within the division to ensure continuous performance improvement.
  • Identify learning and development opportunities to support team growth and upskilling.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to expand the client base.
  • Maintain accurate sales pipelines, forecasts, and client communication records using CRM tools.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and customer events.
  • Monitor team performance and implement training initiatives as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s or MBA is considered an asset).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ sales experience within laboratory equipment, diagnostics, or scientific instruments.
  • Strong knowledge of the scientific and laboratory markets and related products.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Valid driver’s license and eligibility to work in Malta.
  • Fluency in both Maltese and English.
