- Ensuring all design activities are performed to the required standards.
- Ensuring the design organization is continuously in compliance with the requirements of the Design Management System.
- Ensuring the Design Organization is continuously in compliance with procedures specified in the Design Organization Handbook (DOH).
- Controlling and allocating work and personnel within the design organization.
- Determining the necessary resources for the proper functioning of the design organization.
- Ensure that the design organization properly discharges its responsibilities in accordance with the appropriate regulations of EASA Part-21 and its terms of approval.
- Overall technical responsibility for the design organisation’s design engineering deliverables.
- Continued airworthiness support and safety of the product designed, changed or repaired by the design organisation.
- Reviewing and ensuring the adequacy of the on-going training requirements for staff.
- Creating and maintaining of records of design staff.
- Developing and disseminating a safety policy and safety objectives.Creating and adequately resourcing the SMS program.
- Specifying roles, responsibilities and accountabilities of the management team in relation to safety.
- Implementing Safety Management Systems that will establish and maintain safe work practices.
- Ensuring that all elements in sections of the DOH are carried out.
- Classification of Changes.
- The Compliance Verification of all design work.
- Communication with the Agency on all aspects of airworthiness.
- Authorizing Compliance Verification Engineers.
- Authorizing drawing and document checkers.
- Conducting a Compliance Review upon completion of a certification programme.
- Upon successful completion of the Compliance Review, signing the Minor Change Approval Certificate when satisfied that all certification and environmental protection requirements have been met.
- Review and amendment of the DOH.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in a responsible position (e.g. as CVE, Project Manager, etc.) in the aviation sector.
- Proven knowledge of the relevant Part-21 requirements.
- Thorough knowledge of the relevant certification specifications.
- Management skills (leadership, organisation, social competence).
