We are looking for a motivated and detail oriented Entry Level Life Underwriter to join our growing underwriting team. This role is ideal for someone early in their insurance career who enjoys analysis, problem solving, and learning how to assess risk in a structured, supportive environment. You’ll receive full training, mentorship, and exposure to real underwriting cases as you develop your technical skills.Responsibilities and Duties- Review and assess basic life insurance applications under supervision.- Analyse customer information such as age, occupation, lifestyle, and medical history.- Apply underwriting guidelines to determine risk levels and recommend decisions.- Request additional information when needed (e.g., medical reports, questionnaires).- Document decisions clearly and accurately in underwriting systems.- Collaborate with senior underwriters to learn best practices and decision making frameworks.- Support advisors and internal teams by providing clear updates on case progress.- Participate in ongoing training to build knowledge of medical terminology, financial underwriting, and industry standards.Skills and Competence- Curiosity and willingness to learn.- Analytical, fair, and customer focused.- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.- Integrity, confidentiality, and sound judgement.- A team player who enjoys problem solving and continuous improvement.- Clear, professional communication skills (written and verbal).- Comfortable working independently and within a collaborative team environment.Qualifications & Experience- Diploma or degree in a related field (insurance, finance, science, business, or similar) or in the process of obtaining.- Any exposure to insurance, customer service, or administrative roles is considered an asset.- No prior underwriting experience required, training will be provided.
