Job Purpose:The Services Operations Manager is responsible for managing daily transport operations and ensuring high service standards across the fleet. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vehicle mechanics and maintenance, enabling them to engage effectively with service providers, workshops, and insurers on mechanical and electrical vehicle issues. This role combines operational leadership, fleet coordination, and technical oversight to support efficiency, safety, and cost-effective service delivery.Key Responsibilities:Transport & Service Operations:Oversee daily transport logistics including scheduling, dispatching, routing, and fleet utilisation.Monitor service KPIs such as punctuality, fuel efficiency, and vehicle availability.Ensure transport services operate in line with regulatory and internal compliance standards.Fleet Maintenance & Vehicle Coordination:Coordinate and track maintenance schedules, repairs, and inspections for all vehicles.Liaise with garages, mechanics, electricians, insurers, and leasing companies regarding mechanical and electrical issues.Book and follow up on vehicle servicing, repair jobs, accident damage, and warranty claims.Maintain accurate records of service history, incidents, and downtime.Mechanical Oversight:Identify and discuss mechanical or electrical issues directly with workshop technicians and suppliers.Assist in diagnosing vehicle faults and advising on repair options and cost estimates.Ensure vehicles are roadworthy, compliant, and equipped as required.Staff & Team Management:Supervise drivers, dispatchers, and maintenance support personnel.Oversee recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management.Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, and accountability.Customer Service & Communication:Ensure timely, safe, and professional service delivery to clients and passengers.Resolve operational incidents, delays, or client concerns promptly and effectively.Collaborate with insurance companies to report and manage claims.Budget & Resource Planning:Monitor operational costs related to repairs, servicing, fuel, and fleet operations.Identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.Assist with budget preparation and vehicle procurement planning.Required Qualifications & Skills:Education & Technical Knowledge:Diploma or degree in Transport Management, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.Strong practical understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in commercial vehicles.Additional certifications (e.g. CPC, automotive diagnostics, fleet maintenance) are an advantage.Experience:3–5+ years in transport operations, fleet management, or vehicle maintenance coordination.Experience managing teams in a fleet-based or logistics environment.Direct experience dealing with garages, vehicle suppliers, and insurance firms.Skills:Good command of Maltese and english languages (other languages are an asset)Strong leadership and problem-solving capabilities.Excellent communication and negotiation skills.Competence in transport or fleet management software.Ability to interpret mechanical reports and service logs.Detail-oriented with strong organisational and planning skills.Working Conditions:Office-based with regular visits to yards, garages, and supplier sites.On-call availability for urgent vehicle issues or breakdowns.Occasional travel between locations or to meet service providers.
