Our Client is seeking an experienced Associate Lawyer to join its litigation team. In this role, you will lead complex cases, mentor junior team members, and take ownership of client matters from initial assessment to resolution, ensuring high standards of legal service and strategic advice.Key Responsibilities
- Case Management: Lead the management of litigation files, overseeing all procedural steps, deadlines, and client communications to ensure cases progress efficiently.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement legal strategies for complex disputes, providing guidance to junior lawyers and contributing to overall team planning.
- Court Advocacy: Represent clients in court proceedings and alternative dispute resolution forums, including mediation and arbitration.
- Drafting and Review: Prepare, review, and finalise pleadings, motions, and other legal documents, ensuring accuracy and persuasive presentation.
- Evidence Evaluation: Analyse witness statements, contracts, and other documents to build strong case arguments and advise clients on potential outcomes.
- Mentorship and Leadership: Support and mentor junior lawyers, delegating tasks appropriately while maintaining oversight of quality and deadlines.
- Legal Research: Conduct in-depth legal research on complex issues, providing actionable recommendations and briefing senior partners when required.
- Education: Law Degree required.
- Experience: Admission to the Maltese Bar with at least three years’ dispute resolution or litigation experience with a commercial focus, including hands-on courtroom practice.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of both Maltese and English is required.
- Communication Skills: Strong ability to present complex legal arguments clearly and persuasively, both orally and in writing.
- Interpersonal Skills: Effective leadership and team collaboration skills; able to build strong client relationships.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in civil and commercial litigation, procedural rules, drafting, and case management systems.
- Organisation: Capable of managing multiple high-stakes cases simultaneously, ensuring compliance with deadlines and standards.
- Self-Motivated: Proactive and decisive, able to take ownership of cases and guide teams with confidence.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills to anticipate challenges and propose effective solutions.
