About the DepartmentThe Legal Affairs team provides legal advice internally across the organisation on a wide range of matters including enforcement and supervisory matters, as well as matters of an operational nature. It is also involved in the coordination and oversight of the legislative process in so far as laws administered by the MFSA are concerned. Moreover, Legal Affairs attends to any litigation matters and represents the Authority in any action or legal proceedings in which the MFSA is involved or has an interest.About the RoleWithin this role you will be reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel and will be responsible for performing the following tasks:

Assisting in matters related to litigation or potential litigation before the Courts of Law or Tribunals.
Drafting of judicial acts or other court-related documentation.
Assisting in the upkeeping of the Function’s records.
Informing potential stakeholders of any relevant litigation proceedings, providing the necessary support in preparation to such proceedings and providing updates in relation thereto.
Carrying out of legal research.
Vetting and drafting of legal instruments / agreements, as well as assisting the Authority’s officers in relation thereto.
Perform such other function or duties as may be assigned.
Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Head and/or as may be required by the MFSA from time to time based on the exigencies of the Authority.

About youThe role requires a University of Malta Degree in Law (LL.D or Master of Advocacy level) or a comparable recognised legal qualification at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC), together with possession of a warrant to practice in the Courts of Malta and three years working experience. A post graduate degree in a discipline relevant to the financial services sector would be considered an asset.You will also have the below skillset:

Motivated and willing to expand their knowledge
Great attention to detail
Strong command of both Maltese and English (written and spoken)
Exposure to financial services law and or court work
High level of integrity
