As part of our ongoing growth and expansion of client services, we are seeking to recruit an ambitious and driven Senior Payroll Executive to join our experienced and dedicated client accounting team.The Senior Payroll Executive will be entrusted with a diverse portfolio of clients, taking ownership of end-to-end payroll delivery while fostering strong and lasting client relationships. The successful candidate will serve as a key point of contact, providing expert guidance on payroll matters, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the continuous improvement of internal processes.In this role, the Senior Payroll Executive will also mentor junior team members and collaborate closely with colleagues across the accounts and payroll function, contributing to the overall success and growth of the team.The duties will include but are not limited to:Lead the preparation and execution of end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness across diverse and complex payroll cycles.Oversee the calculation of tax obligations, social security contributions, and statutory deductions, liaising proactively with the Tax Department and external regulators.Mentor and provide guidance to junior payroll staff, supporting knowledge sharing and contributing to team development.Review payroll calculations, ensuring that junior team members' work is verified and escalations are handled promptly.Act as the main point of contact on payroll policies, procedures, and compliance with Maltese employment legislation, GDPR, and data protection regulations.Conduct due diligence and KYC checks for new payroll clients, ensuring adherence to internal and external compliance requirements.Stay abreast of new payroll, taxation, and employment regulations, interpreting and advising clients and colleagues on the impact of regulatory changes.Act as the main point of contact for complex clients, providing guidance, troubleshooting queries, and delivering a high-quality service experience.Manage the distribution of wages via cheques or electronic transfers, ensuring appropriate controls are in place.Support clients with employee onboarding and offboarding processes, including guidance on submissions to JobsPlus and other relevant authorities.Ensure clients' employee documents and records are accurately maintained, audited, and compliant with statutory and data protection obligations.Maintain a well-organised payroll filing and documentation system, implementing best practices for record-keeping.Assist in wider financial, accounting, and banking matters as directed, providing senior-level input and recommendations where relevant.Requirements:A minimum of 3 years' proven experience in payroll or a similar role.Payroll and/or HR-related qualifications will be considered a strong asset.Advanced knowledge of payroll software and systems (e.g., Indigo, BambooHR, or equivalent), as well as strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Strong understanding of Maltese employment law, payroll legislation, and statutory reporting requirements.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client portfolios, meet strict deadlines, and resolve complex payroll issues.A client-focused mindset, with the ability to build, nurture, and manage strong client relationships at all levels.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to convey complex payroll matters clearly.Proven leadership skills, with the ability to support, mentor, and guide junior staff within the payroll function.Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, able to work independently and exercise sound judgment.High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in handling sensitive employee and client information.Benefits:An attractive remuneration package and progression plan, commensurate with knowledge and experience.Performance bonus.Hybrid working.Flexible hours.Longer weekends - our office closes at 2pm on Fridays!Birthday leave.Family-oriented culture.Health insurance.Free parking.Opportunities to attend industry events.Regular team building & departmental events.Corporate benefits - discounts and offers across the island.Free Mental Health Workshops & One-to-One Sessions.Study leave.Sponsorship opportunities.On-the-job training and mentoring from industry professionals.ACCA Approved Employer - providing performance objective exemption from the PER (Practical Experience Requirement), performance objective exemption from the FPER (Foundations Practical Experience Requirement), high standards of staff training and personal development, and delivery of CPE Accredited training in-house.This vacancy was published on 01/07/25.
