The Financial Stability function is responsible for identifying and assessing risks which have the potential to spread within the financial sector and the real economy (systemic risks). Through its own macroprudential research and analysis of the financial sector, which covers the banking, insurance and securities sectors, the function contributes to the formulation of policies aimed at mitigating identified risk. The Intelligence and Research team is responsible for the function's statistical capabilities and for conducting rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess economic and external factors, structural shifts, and market practices that may impact the financial services sector, as well as assessing the implications of related policy measures and initiatives proposed to address themAbout the Role As an Analyst (Research and Analysis) within the Intelligence and Research team you will be assigned to carry out work which will include the following duties:
Conducting research and assisting in the development of data models to support the MFSA strategic priority areas with a focus on new business models and innovation, particularly in areas such as sustainable finance, digital transformation and AI;
Carrying out qualitative and quantitative market-wide research;
Contributing to impact assessments and cost benefit analysis to evaluate the implications of regulatory changes;
Contributing to the collection of the statistical capabilities of the function;
Drafting analytical reports and technical papers, both for internal and publication purposes;
Attending and contributing to technical meetings within the MFSA as well as at national and international level;
Carrying out any other responsibilities delegated by the line manager or other members of senior leadership in line with the function's remit and/or the Authority`s exigencies.
Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Head and/or as may be required by the MFSA from time to time based on the exigencies of the Authority.
About You The selected candidate is expected to be a confident individual who feels at ease working in a multidisciplinary environment, is flexible, proactive, dynamic, has the ability to prioritise tasks, has a and a even when under time pressure. The individual is also required to demonstrate good research and have excellent oral, written and presentation skills.You will hold qualification at MQF Level 6 or higher in statistics, mathematics, banking and finance, economics or in any other relevant field.A minimum of three (3) years prior experience is required, preferably within the financial services sector or related fields.If you do not have the necessary academic qualifications but have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.You will also have the below skillset:
Experience of working with business intelligence tools, such as MS PowerBI
Knowledge of programming languages and data analysis packages, such as R, Python or SQL
Critical and analytical mind-set
High attention to detail
