Heroix is collaborating with our Client to recruit a Senior Compliance Officer to oversee the compliance function across multiple regulated entities. This role offers the opportunity to lead a skilled team, ensuring that all operations align with local regulations while maintaining the highest standards of professional conduct. The position is well-suited to candidates with sector experience who are ready to take on a leadership role and drive compliance excellence.Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Oversight: Ensure all entities comply with Maltese corporate, trust, and regulatory requirements, supporting other regulatory functions as necessary.
- Policy Development: Create, implement, and refine internal policies and procedures to reflect current regulatory standards and industry best practices.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Conduct regular reviews of business activities, identify compliance risks, and report findings to senior management through structured compliance reports.
- Training and Guidance: Deliver compliance training and guidance to employees, promoting awareness of responsibilities and reinforcing the importance of regulatory adherence.
- Risk Management: Work with various departments to evaluate risks related to non-compliance, developing strategies to mitigate potential issues and strengthen overall risk management.
- Audits and Investigations: Lead internal audits and investigations to ensure adherence to compliance policies, collaborating with external auditors and regulatory bodies when required.
- Regulatory Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for Maltese regulatory authorities, ensuring timely communication and accurate submission of requested information.
- Team Leadership: Conduct performance assessments, provide constructive feedback, and mentor team members to foster professional development and accountability.
- Education: Relevant degree in law, finance, or a related field. PQ'd by MFSA.
- Experience: Proven experience in corporate and trust services, with strong familiarity with Maltese regulatory frameworks.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required. Knowledge of Maltese is considered an asset.
- Communication Skills: Clear and effective verbal and written communication, including presentation of complex information to various stakeholders.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to collaborate across teams, build trust, and maintain professional relationships.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in compliance processes, due diligence, AML practices, and MS Office applications.
- Organisation: Strong time management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting regulatory deadlines.
- Self-Motivated: Proactive, independent, and able to take initiative in a dynamic environment.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with the ability to assess situations, identify issues, and develop effective solutions.
