Role SummaryThe Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the full water production and bottling process. The role ensures efficient operations, high product quality, and compliance with Maltese and EU standards, while meeting production targets and optimizing resources.This position plays a key leadership role in managing plant operations, production staff, and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced FMCG environment.Key Responsibilities1. Production Operations Management

Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily water production and bottling activities
Ensure production schedules are achieved efficiently and on time
Monitor production lines to maximize output and minimize downtime
Ensure smooth flow of raw materials and packaging supplies

2. Quality Control & Compliance

Ensure all products meet quality standards for drinking water and packaging
Enforce hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards
Monitor water treatment, filtration, and bottling processes
Conduct regular inspections and ensure compliance with health & safety regulations

3. Team Leadership & Workforce Management

Lead, supervise, and develop production teams (operators, technicians, supervisors)
Provide training, coaching, and performance evaluations
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Manage shift planning and staffing levels

4. Process Improvement & Efficiency

Identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce waste
Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
Analyse production data and KPIs (efficiency, downtime, waste, output)
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

5. Equipment & Maintenance Oversight

Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of production machinery
Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs
Minimize production downtime through proactive planning
Support installation and commissioning of new equipment

6. Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination

Monitor raw material stock levels (water sources, bottles, caps, labels)
Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, and logistics teams
Ensure accurate inventory tracking and reporting
Support distribution planning for timely deliveries

Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
5+ years’ experience in production/manufacturing (preferably FMCG, beverage, or water industry)
Proven experience managing teams in a production environment
Knowledge of Maltese/EU food safety and manufacturing regulations

Key Skills

Work Environment

Based in a production plant environment
