OverviewAbout the DepartmentActing as the central point of contact for the Authority, the Communications function handles its internal and external correspondence with the aim of maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders and keeping them up to date, be they employees, licence holders or the public at large. The function is also the designated brand guardian of the MFSA, managing its reputation and image on the various digital and offline platforms, through B2B and consumer education campaigns and events.About the RoleAs Head of Communications you will be responsible for:
  • Leading the Communications Team, allocating appropriate talent and resources in all correspondence initiatives to ensure the successful achievement of objectives.
  • Developing the annual strategic internal and external communication plans, in line with the Authority’s strategy and objectives.
  • Collaborating with the rest of the Senior Leadership Team across the whole organisation to support the achievement of business goals.
  • Taking the role of spokesperson for the organisation, and dealing with media.
  • Acting as Brand Champion for the Authority, developing its brand in line with its strategy.
  • Regularly assessing the effectiveness of the organisation’s communication channels, identifying and implementing improvement opportunities.
  • Liaising with the Press Office of other local or overseas supervisory and regulatory bodies as may be required.
  • Managing, monitoring and forecasting communications budget (digital media platforms, press, publications, events).
  • Driving digital media strategy, including social media platforms, and supporting activities.
  • Overseeing the production of publications, including the MFSA Annual Report presented to the House of Representatives.
  • Collaborating with the People & Culture function to support recruitment effort and employer branding from a communications perspective.
  • Overseeing the ongoing development of the Authority’s website, intranet and other assets from a web usability, content strategy and content quality perspective.
  • Content building and management to be used on portals, online and printed media channels.
  • Taking responsibility for media campaigns, including consumer education.
  • Any other duties depending on the exigencies of the Authority.
About youThe role calls for an academic qualification in Communications or a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.You will also possess:
  • A minimum of five (5) years working in similar role at a senior level.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • The ability to define priorities effectively.
  • Effective negotiating abilities.
  • A collaborative attitude.
