- Developing and updating environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures;
- Implementing safety programs, inspecting areas for hazardous conditions;
- Establishing standards for compliance with government regulations and company policies;
- Monitoring company wide compliance with environmental health and safety legislation;
- Coordinating ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management System Certification Audits;
- Reviewing occupational health and safety plans and investigates accidents;
- Promoting environmental, health, and safety awareness through sessions and seminars;
- Providing impartial advice on health, safety, and environment matters;
- Developing and implementing action plans for environmental protection and risk mitigation;
- Participating in health and safety committee activities and liaises with authorities;
- Developing environmental health management plans;
- Designing strategies for waste disposal; and,
- Advising and enforcing environmental legislation.
- A minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in a similar position;
- A recognised diploma (Level 5 MQF) as a minimum, in relevant discipline or equivalent technical competence acquired formally or informally;
- Knowledge of government laws and regulations relating to Environment, Health and Safety;
- Sound knowledge in the field of safety compliance and risk assessment;
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety systems and best practices including those of Waste Management; and,
- Possess effective written and oral communication skills including training skills.
