
Health and Safety Officer

- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s health and safety management system, tailored to the demands of the steel manufacturing industry.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections across all operational areas, ensuring compliance with local (Maltese) and EU health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Develop and enforce safety policies, procedures, and programs, ensuring that all operations, from production to maintenance, meet the highest safety standards.
- Manage incident investigations and produce detailed reports, including corrective actions to prevent future occurrences, ensuring compliance with Maltese laws.
- Provide health and safety training for all employees ensuring full understanding of workplace hazards and emergency procedures.
- Stay up to date with Maltese and EU legislation regarding occupational health and safety (OH&S), and actively implement changes in processes where necessary.
- Create and maintain detailed records for safety audits, incident reports, and compliance documentation for internal and external audits.
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar internationally recognized safety certifications are essential.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a health and safety role within a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in steel or heavy industries is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of Maltese and EU health and safety regulations.
- Proven track record of implementing safety protocols and driving cultural change within a manufacturing setting.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and train staff at all levels of the organization.
