Job DescriptionOur client is looking to appoint a commercially minded Lawyer who will also act as the Data Protection Officer. This role will serve as a trusted legal advisor to senior stakeholders, providing practical and strategic guidance across legal, regulatory, compliance and data protection matters in multiple jurisdictions.The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting business growth, managing legal risk, and ensuring the organisation operates in line with applicable laws and regulations. In parallel, the role will own and lead the data protection framework, embedding privacy principles across the business and acting as the main point of contact for data protection related matters.Location: Hybrid - MostaResponsibilities:As a Lawyer & DPO, your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial and corporate agreementsAdvising senior management on commercial, contractual, IT, software, data, and M&A related topicsProviding legal support on corporate governance matters and internal policiesSupporting international expansion initiatives and new market entry projectsYou will also take full ownership of data protection responsibilities in your capacity as DPO, includingOverseeing GDPR and data protection compliance across the organisationDeveloping and maintaining data protection policies, procedures, and training programmesConducting data protection impact assessments and internal auditsHandling data subject requests and incident response processesActing as the main liaison with supervisory authorities and internal stakeholdersAdditional responsibilitiesManaging and coordinating external legal counsel in relation to disputes, litigation, and international mattersLiaising with foreign advisors in relation to company set ups and overseas servicesSupporting internal teams with registry filings and corporate maintenance requirementsExposure to insurance related matters and ESG initiatives is considered a plusContracts and agreements you will advise onBusiness and commercial agreementsEmployment and consultancy contractsNon disclosure agreementsSoftware licensing and support agreementsData processing and data protection agreementsSupplier and vendor agreementsManaged services agreementsEscrow arrangements and contractual addendaRequirements:Fully qualified lawyer with strong academic and professional standingMinimum 4 years' experience in a leading commercial law firm or in house legal roleStrong commercial mindset with the ability to provide pragmatic legal adviceExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsProven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross functional teamsHigh attention to detail with strong organisational and prioritisation skillsFluent in English, with an additional EU language considered an assetPrevious experience within regulated environments such as payments or fintech is advantageousWhat's in it for you?Our client offers an exciting, challenging role in a collaborative, dynamic environment.
