- Lead the timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes
- Prepare monthly and annual management reports in line with IFRS
- Manage the chart of accounts and ensure correct classification of financial transactions
- Oversee intercompany reconciliations and all general ledger activities
- Review and reconcile complex balance sheet items including fixed assets, accruals and prepayments
- Ensure full compliance with Maltese VAT and Corporate Tax regulations
- Manage the preparation and submission of statutory returns
- Support external audits by providing documentation and explanations
- Stay updated on IFRS developments and local regulatory changes
- Ensure correct documentation for foreign supplier transactions including those requiring specific compliance checks
- Maintain and optimise the company's ERP system to ensure data integrity
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements
- Ensure all financial data is securely archived and audit-ready
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff
- Contribute to the development of technical skills within the team
- Strong practical knowledge of IFRS
- Solid understanding of Maltese VAT, corporate tax and related regulations
- Experience with a recognised ERP system (experience with Sage X3 is an advantage)
- Strong Excel skills
