As the company continues to grow, they are seeking a Systems Engineer to support the development, maintenance, and optimization of their expanding infrastructure.This role offers the chance to join a talented engineering team focused on deploying mission-critical applications while ensuring top-tier availability, performance, and security.Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be expected to take ownership of the role and contribute in the following areas:
- Manage and monitor both software and hardware systems.
- Configure and maintain network equipment, including IPSEC tunnels.
- Ensure maximum system availability at all times.
- Monitor and test application performance, identifying potential bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Development teams to resolve bugs and enhance system performance.
- Maintain regular backups for mission-critical systems.
- Provide second-level support to the Customer Service team and participate in an “on-call” roster for after-hours support.
- Coordinate with service providers and external partners on hardware-related issues.
- Conduct 24/7 proactive monitoring and support for live and pre-production environments.
- Perform additional tasks or projects as assigned.
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Excellent level of Maltese & English languages
- Professional experience with UNIX/Linux systems.
- Familiarity with Apache, Nginx, HAProxy, and RabbitMQ.
- Experience with virtualisation and containerization technologies such as VMWare, Proxmox, and Docker.
- Proficiency in monitoring tools such as Zabbix and Grafana.
- Experience managing, tuning, installing, and backing up/restoring MySQL/Percona databases.
- Scripting experience with Bash or Python.
- Solid networking knowledge, preferably with Juniper and Cisco, including configuring firewalls, routers, switches in HA environments, and VPNs.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Enthusiasm for researching and implementing new technologies.
- Experience or familiarity with SMPP and/or SS7 is considered an asset.
