- Design, implement and maintain the Company's AML/CFT framework in accordance with local legislation and FIAU guidance, EU Directives,, MFSA requirements and and applicable regulations.
- Ensure policies, procedures and controls are proportionate to the Company's risk profile.
- Regularly review and update the Business Risk Assessment.
- Act as the primary point of contact with the regulators and various stakeholders, as required
- Lead regulatory reporting, inspections, and ongoing supervisory engagement.
- Ensure timely submission of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and regulatory notifications.
- Oversee Customer onboarding and risk assessment; Enhanced due diligence for high-risk clients; and Ongoing monitoring / periodic reviews.
- Ensure effective transaction monitoring and escalation processes.
- Identify and assess AML/CFT risks; Sanctions and fraud risks, and emerging financial crime threats.
- Work closely with the Compliance and Risk function to ensure alignment with the Company's risk appetite.
- Provide regular reporting to The Board of Directors; Senior Management, and Risk and Compliance Committees.
- Escalate material financial crime risks, ensuring robust documentation, audit trails and record-keeping.
- Develop and deliver AML/CFT training to staff, promoting a strong compliance culture and awareness across the organisation.
- Coordinate with the wider Financial Group to ensure consistency of AML standards; information sharing and escalation; Alignment with Group financial crime strategy.
- Minimum 7-10 years' experience in AML/CFT within Financial institutions; Payments or fintech; Investment or Treasury environments.
- Strong knowledge of local AML framework; EU AML Directives; PSD2 and MiFID regulatory expectations.
- Proven ability to build and scale AML frameworks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Approved, or eligibility to be, by MFSA and FIAU.
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. CAMS, ICA, or equivalent).
