The Strategy, Policy and Innovation function provides strategic advice and policy analysis across the financial services sector, supporting the development and implementation of the MFSA's strategic development cycle and regulatory frameworks. It identifies emerging risks and opportunities for development to strengthen Malta's financial services regulatory framework. In doing so, the function ensures that the Authority remains proactive in responding to emerging opportunities, perceived risks and evolving international standards, while fostering innovation and enhancing access to financial products, thereby further positioning Malta as a jurisdiction of choice.About the Role As an Analyst within the Strategy, Policy and Innovation function, you will be expected to carry out the following tasks:
  • Participating in the development, implementation and evaluation of cross-sectoral strategy and regulatory development projects and related policy work.
  • Contributing to the formulation, monitoring and review of the Authority's Strategic Planning and Implementation Cycle.
  • Providing support in the development of proposals related to key priority areas which may be tapped into by the MFSA, in line with the Authority's strategy and vision.
  • Conducting research and analysis on matters falling within the remit of the function, including on strategy formulation, regulatory development projects and related policy work being undertaken by the function
  • Collaborating with various directorates within the Authority, as well as governmental bodies and other external stakeholders, to support the effective development, coordination and delivery of strategic and regulatory initiatives.
  • Participating in select local and international fora on matters impacting the financial services regulatory landscape.
  • Undertaking other tasks as directed by line management, in line with the function's exigencies.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Head and/or as may be required by the MFSA from time to time based on the exigencies of the Authority.
About You We are seeking candidates with a strong academic background in Banking, Economics, Accountancy, Law, or a related field, with a particular interest in financial services.The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC), or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.You will also possess a minimum of three (3) years working in the area of financial services. Candidates with longer work experience relevant to the role will be preferred. If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least seven (7) years' experience in a similar related role, we would still be interested in speaking with you. Knowledge and/or experience in sectors regulated by the MFSA and familiarity with related regulatory frameworks would be considered an asset.The ideal candidate is confident, proactive, and possesses a strong analytical mindset.   • Strong time management skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities, as may be necessary.

  • Strong research capabilities along with excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
