The Health & Safety Executive will take ownership of the Company’s health and safety framework, ensuring robust systems are in place and continuously enhanced. This role involves working closely with various departments to promote a safe working environment, uphold regulatory compliance, and embed a culture of safety across all levels of the organisation.Key Responsibilities
  • Risk Assessment and Control: Evaluate workplace hazards across operations, ensuring appropriate safeguards, procedures, and documentation are consistently applied and updated.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed of all relevant health and safety legislation and ensure that employees, contractors, and stakeholders are aligned with current legal and internal requirements.
  • Planning and Budgeting: Design and oversee annual safety plans and allocate resources effectively to meet organisational safety goals and performance targets.
  • Audits and Certifications: Organise and support internal and external audits, particularly those linked to recognised standards, ensuring readiness and ongoing compliance.
  • Training and Development: Create and deliver structured safety training programmes to employees and third parties, fostering awareness and accountability across the workforce.
  • Incident Management: Lead investigations into workplace incidents, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented and monitored.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct regular safety checks across sites and with external partners, maintaining adherence to national regulations and Company expectations.
  • Environmental Support: Collaborate with the relevant teams to strengthen environmental management practices and support ongoing improvement initiatives.
  • Documentation and Committees: Maintain accurate safety records, support internal safety committees, and contribute to emergency preparedness planning.
  • Additional Duties: Assist with other tasks as required to support both operational needs and long-term organisational objectives.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
  • Education: A recognised qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related discipline is required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, with exposure to structured management systems and compliance-driven environments. Must have previous experience with conducting risk assessments and H&S inspections.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to clearly convey information, deliver training, and influence safe behaviours across all levels.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Capable of building effective working relationships with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with recognised safety standards and frameworks, along with practical knowledge of auditing and incident investigation techniques. Must have previous experience with contributing to the H&S management system.
  • Organisation: Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain records, and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Self-Motivated: Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and a proactive approach to improving workplace safety.
  • Problem-Solving: Able to analyse issues, identify root causes, and implement practical, effective solutions.
