A boutique Maltese accounting and auditing firm combining local and international expertise to provide financial guidance and growth-focused advisory services is seeking a Senior Accountant - VAT Specialist to join their team. In this role you will oversee client accounting functions, ensure compliance, and support both clients and internal teams with accurate financial reporting and advisory.This hybrid role offers a salary of up to €45K, depending on experienceRole & ResponsibilitiesOversee and review daily bookkeepingAct as the main point of contact for clientsMaintain accurate accounting records and prepare management reports monthly, quarterly, and annuallyPrepare annual management accountsLiaise with external auditorsManage VAT registrations and ensure full compliance with Maltese VAT legislation and reporting obligations across the client portfolioProvide financial analysis and reporting to support senior managementAdvise clients on VAT matters, including cross-border transactions, partial exemption rules, and Maltese and EU VAT complianceAssist clients with EXO number applications and act as the primary liaison throughout the processSupport the internal team on complex VAT and compliance mattersEducation, Skills & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldMinimum 2-3 years of experience in a similar accounting or tax-focused roleStrong knowledge of IFRS, GAPSME, VAT, and corporate tax regulationsExperience in preparing management accounts, bookkeeping, and coordinating auditsProficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent command of English, both written and spokenStrong analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities efficientlyConfident communicator with strong interpersonal and client relationship skillsProactive, organised, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a teamAbout the RoleSalary of up to €38K, depending on experienceHybrid role with flexible working hours; core office hours from 9:00 - 15:00Office location - BirkirkaraMobile allowanceTeam building and company eventsCareer growth opportunitiesSponsorship for yearly professional training, seminars, webinars, and conferences*JobMatchingPartner Limited is a recruitment agency licenced in Malta, EU with licence no EA00340-2024.
