In this position, you will be responsible for the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals in his/her section by enforcing strict health and hygiene standards in the kitchen. S/he must also be able to give orders within her/his section, as well as carry out orders handed down by the Sous Chef and Head Chef.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook dishes on menus set by the company and Head Chef using recipes provided
- Cook, Chill, Label, Store and rotate food, keeping required records and taking appropriate action where necessary to ensure compliance with HACCP procedures, food hygiene regulations, and company
- Maintain adequate section stock levels to meet the needs of the business and place orders with Sous Chef
- Maintain secure stock storage
- Minimize expenses by careful control of food stock
- Keep kitchen equipment clean and in good working order
- Report hazards and maintenance requirements
- Provide training and guidance to Commis chef on section
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of food industry trends.
- Certificate or Diploma in Food Preparation from a Catering Institute
- In the position of a Food Handling Certificate
- Minimum 3 years work experience in a kitchen, preferably in a hotel
- Fluent in English
- A proactive approach to dealing with issues that may arise
- Highly organized, able to multitask prioritize and work under pressure.
