
Data Governance Specialist (m/f/x)

- You collaborate across the business to identify and document all data processing activities.
- You support the Data Governance Lead in maintaining the data processing register, system inventory, and data flows required under GDPR, as well as managing the business glossary and KPI glossary - including regular updates, edits, and maintenance of all records.
- You conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs), and Supplier Risk Assessments related to GDPR and third-party data protection risks.
- You identify GDPR and data protection compliance gaps in both new and existing processes, and provide actionable mitigation plans to the relevant business owners.
- You are responsible for logging all new requests submitted by the business and following up on required actions.
- You ensure data protection considerations are embedded in day-to-day business practices, such as data retention and deletion policies.
- You act as a liaison between data owners, technical teams, legal, and compliance to ensure data governance principles are applied in both daily operations and new initiatives.
- You support the Data Governance Lead and the Data Protection Officer in driving and implementing the data governance and protection strategy, including handling ad-hoc tasks as required.
- Qualifications. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Administration, or a related field
- Experience. 2+ years of relevant work experience in data governance, data protection, compliance, business administration, or a related role.
- Ownership & Precision. Ability to take ownership of tasks with diligence and consistency, demonstrating a high level of attention to detail and prioritization.
- Time Management. Strong prioritization and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication. Strong communicator with the ability to clearly convey technical and business concepts and actively contribute to team discussions.
- Data Protection. Good understanding of GDPR and global data protection regulations.
- Risk Assessments. Familiarity with conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs).
- Data Flow Mapping. Proficiency in mapping data flows and maintaining processing records.
- Data Governance Processes. Experience with data governance practices such as data lineage, business glossary, data mapping, data inventory, or governance tooling.
- Metadata & Access Control. Understanding of data cataloging, metadata management, and access control mechanisms.
- Agile Methodology. Knowledge and experience working within Agile environments.
- Excel & Analysis. Strong Excel skills and solid knowledge of data analysis techniques.
- Language. Fluent in English, German is desirable.
