Senior VAT Accountant

• Partner with management to steer technical VAT initiatives and refine internal operational frameworks
• Supervise VAT compliance workstreams for a diverse portfolio, providing mentorship and quality oversight to junior staff
• Resolve complex VAT issues, including cross-border structuring, industry-specific treatments, and the impact of legislative shifts
• Perform final reviews of VAT returns and statutory filings to ensure total accuracy and regulatory alignment
• Navigate the full lifecycle of VAT registrations and de-registrations while managing ongoing statutory obligations
• Act as the primary point of contact for tax authorities, managing audits, formal inquiries, and investigations
• Conduct high-level consultations to advise clients on their VAT positions and compliance strategies

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent qualification
• 2+ years of specialized experience in VAT or indirect tax roles
• Advanced certification or a postgraduate degree in Taxation
• In-depth command of Maltese and EU VAT legislation
• Skilled in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Superior communication skills in English (written and verbal)
