The CSSD Technician is a medical support worker who assists in the sterilization and preparation of equipment of instruments.-Operating and monitoring steam autoclaves, sonic washers and other sterilizing equipment. -Demonstrating proper handling of contaminated instruments paying attention to detail in cleaning sorting and inspection. -Inspecting and replacing missing or damaged instruments. -Cleaning sterilizing equipment. -Assisting in organizing surgical instrument trays. -Recording sterilizer test results. -Restocking supplies of items such as swabs, linen, and other consumables. -Ensuring that records are updated accurately and as required. -Collecting and delivering items prior to or after decontamination / sterilization. -Reporting any breakages or faulty equipment ensuring the department functions safely and efficiently. -Following the protocol for repair or replacement of instruments that are not functioning properly. -Carrying out the necessary checks at the end of shift to ensure that all machinery is switched off and all equipment for theatres has been dispatched and that all doors are secured before leaving the department. -Undertaking tasks with a minimum level of supervision and referring to immediate supervisor when guidance is needed. -Adhering to Health & Safety policies, company and departmental policies and statutory regulations. -Performing other duties within the capability of the individual as and when requested by immediate supervisor.ProfilesCompetencies

Follow-up product stock; determine shortages; pass on orders
Sterilise, identify and package medical-technical instruments/equipment and send to department concerned
Check working condition of instruments. Inform maintenance service or person in charge in case of problems
Prepare materials and products according to doctor's instructions and nature of intervention
Sterilise materials and equipment; package them (compose sets, bagging...)
Clean and clear the working area (equipment, accessories...)
