
Forklift Technician

- Perform routine, emergency, and preventative maintenance of forklifts.
- Repairs and maintains various types of forklift trucks, including electric, gas-powered, and propane-powered.
- Test forklift trucks to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
- To be able to diagnose faults and be able to read schematics, electrical diagrams, and manufacturers’ manuals.
- Ensure repairs are carried out according to the manufacturer's procedures and in a safe and responsible manner
- Perform a safety inspection of forklifts before being released back to the work floor.
- Perform routine and operational maintenance according to the manufacturer’s specifications
- Maintains inventory for regularly used parts and places parts orders upon Manager approval.
- Ensure vehicles are thoroughly examined and report verbally and in writing the general condition of vehicles with emphasis on customer safety
- Comply with warranty procedures during repairs, and ensure warranty-displaced material is returned on completion of a repair.
- Be able to use the specialised tools provided effectively and ensure optimum use and best safe practices.
- To be responsible for the safe deposit and upkeep of any documents in possession in a proper manner.
- To compile job cards and ensure that write-ups are completed accurately and promptly.
- Ensure that service sheets are completed as per manufacturer/customer instructions.
- Any other duties commensurate with the level of this post, as may be assigned from time to time.
- Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, in Maltese and English, to be able to report adequately to superiors and to form good relations.
- Must be familiar with OSHA regulations regarding the operation of a forklift and all other equipment.
- In possession of a valid certificate to operate forklifts.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, including the ability to respond to the needs of team members and provide them with assistance when and as required.
- To be able to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
- To be open and honest at all times.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work with third parties.
- To have a flexible approach to work commitments at all times.
- Have a good knowledge of electrical components and battery-operated lifters.
- Be in possession of an electrical technician diploma or equivalent accredited at level 3 or higher.
- Good working knowledge of computers and conversant with computer applications.
