- Prepare an enterprise risk framework for risk management encompassing the whole organization, and where necessary addressing specific processes, functions or departments of the organisation. Evaluate on a regular basis the design and operational effectiveness of the risk management system to identify, measure, monitor, manage and report risks the company is exposed to
- Promote risk management knowledge throughout the organisation.
- Establish a common risk management terminology (e.g. in respect of risk categories and concepts applicable to probability and impact assessment)
- Choose model / tool for the identification, scoring, evaluation and monitoring of risk including emerging risk
- Assist management in the development of risk reporting and monitor the risk reporting process, including establishing a system for early warning flags or a trigger system for breaches of the organisation’s risk appetite or risk limits
- Ensure ongoing communication with the Chief Executive and the Board based on an independent and qualified evaluation of risk management and ensure that decisions are operationalised
- Reporting lines that ensure that risk related information is communicated to the right organisational level at the right time and that this communication is in an understandable and balanced format. The Risk Management function should be involved at the outset to ensure that risk evaluations form a part of all major decisions whilst at the same time, and when necessary, influencing and challenging decisions which may cause material risk
- Prepare reports, either separately or in conjunction with other functions as needed, for formal discussion at Client Board meetings and for presentation to other stakeholders on the material risks faced by the Undertaking and on the effectiveness of the risk management system
- Advise the Board on the effectiveness of strategies and policies with respect to maintaining, on an on-going basis, amounts, types, and distribution of capital adequate to cover the risks of the institution
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in risk management, preferably in the financial services industry.
- In-depth knowledge of risk management frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Certifications such as FRM, CRM, or CFA are highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
- Sound understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
- Proven track record of successfully implementing risk management strategies and frameworks.
