Our Client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to lead the quantity surveying function within its Projects Office. This role involves overseeing cost management, preparing bills of quantities, conducting site measurements, and ensuring that project budgets are maintained throughout all phases of design and implementation. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with architects, project managers, and technical staff to support successful project delivery while mentoring junior team members.Key Responsibilities
- Quantity Assessment: Review and take off quantities from drawings to quantify all project elements accurately.
- Cost Evaluation: Assess third-party quotations and provide guidance on market-valid pricing.
- Procurement Documentation: Draft schedules of quantities and specifications for procurement purposes.
- On-Site Management: Conduct regular inspections and measurements at all stages of the project, reporting any variances to the Project Manager.
- Billing and Certification: Prepare bills of quantities for payments, including extras and variations, and assist in collecting necessary certifications and documentation.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Maintain professional relationships with contractors, supervisors, and internal teams to ensure smooth quantity surveying operations.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance quantity surveying procedures and practices.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior quantity surveyors, apprentices, and other team members within the unit.
- Reporting: Provide progress updates and practical advice to senior management and proactively solve job-specific challenges.
- Education: MQF/EQF Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Construction Engineering (Quantity Surveying) or an equivalent recognised qualification approved by MFHEA.
- Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in Quantity Surveying within construction projects.
- Driving License: A valid driving license, Category B is required.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required; Maltese language skills are an asset.
- Communication Skills: Able to clearly convey technical information to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Interpersonal Skills: Collaborative and supportive, with the ability to foster a positive team environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD and familiar with standard quantity surveying software and practices.
- Organisation: Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and prioritise workloads.
- Self-Motivated: Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and taking initiative.
- Problem-Solving: Practical approach to identifying and implementing solutions to challenges encountered during projects.
