- Understand and monitor the clients’ condition during their attendance at the organisation and assess their needs to provide the best possible care.
- Observe and interpret any symptoms that might indicate deterioration in the patient’s condition and communicate them to the programme manager, parents and doctor.
- Be responsible for the upkeep of any medical records and a client journal.
- Foster a supportive and compassionate environment to care for the clients and their families.
- Have excellent knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures maintaining, a safe and clean environment.
- Be able to identify any medical apparatus / resources needed. This apparatus will fall directly under the candidate’s responsibility.
- Perform routine procedures (Give medication, blood pressure measurements, administer injections etc.) and fill in clients’ charts.
- Adjust and administer patient’s medication and provide treatments according to doctor’s orders.
- Liaise with the parents re the client’s health.
- Work in collaboration with and alongside the practitioners and support workers offering advice as needed.
- Create learning opportunities for the staff and parents of clients in the programmes, through health education workshops, health promotion, case- studies, lectures, research etc.
- Provide routine personal care and hygiene support to clients according to the exigencies of the programmes.
- Maintain and improve personal and professional knowledge and competence as appropriate.
- To ensure that up to date written & electronic records on a daily basis, as well as activity data are maintained in accordance with Inspire standards.
- To provide specialist reports relevant to the practice setting as required, including, but not limited to, end of term reports & monthly statistical reports, as well as any reports required in relation to possible service agreements & contracts.
- Degree qualification (MQF Level 6) or equivalent in Nursing studies.
- Be registered with the Council for Nurses and Midwives.
- Previous experience in a similar role would be considered as an asset.
