- Review, draft, and negotiate contractual agreements and ancillary documentation, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations (including DORA, BRRD, GDPR, etc.) and the clients internal legal standards.
- Assist in compiling and maintaining the clients Contracts Register (on JIRA) and Contracts Repository, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
- Draft and periodically review template agreements, letters, and other documentation used by the client.
- Provide timely, practical legal advice to internal departments (e.g. Credit, IT, Risk, Compliance, HR, Products, Operations) on matters within their remit.
- Draft and review internal policies and manuals relevant to the Legal Department.
- Forward finalised documentation for the CEOs signature and ensure execution protocols are followed.
- Review and advise on credit agreements, sanction letters, and related security documentation.
- Support the Credit Department with legal advice, including on the structure of agreements, to align with the clients requirements and protect its interests.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external lawyers and notaries on credit-related matters, including maintaining and updating relevant internal registers.
- Assist in maintaining manuals and guidance documents related to security collection and credit procedures in Malta and other EU jurisdictions.
- Oversee litigation proceedings and attend court sittings, providing information on behalf of the client where required.

- Strong legal drafting, research, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements (e.g. DORA, BRRD, GDPR, Banking Act, Companies Act).
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-lawyers.
- Proactive, reliable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- High ethical standards, professional integrity, and respect for confidentiality.
- Master of Laws (LL.M.) or equivalent degree, with a warrant to practise law in Malta (or in an EU Member State) or aiming to obtain your warrant in the next 6 months.
- Minimum 2-3 years post-qualification experience, ideally within banking, financial services, or a law firm with exposure to banking, credit, or litigation.
- Demonstrated experience in contract drafting/review and regulatory interpretation.
- Reliable and willing to take ownership of tasks and requests within their remit.
- Familiarity with MFSA and ECB regulatory frameworks is considered an asset.
