- Serve as a contact point with licence holders, corresponding directly with these counterparties, reporting findings and resolving issues as they arise;
- Engage in initiatives in the authorisation and supervisory workstreams under the Virtual Financial Assets Act and the Financial Institutions Act as well as other related ongoing work;
- Participate in onsite compliance inspections and/or interviews, ensuring that they are delivered with the required regulatory standards while interfacing with licence holders on an ongoing basis;
- Undertake assessments of licence holders covering regulatory and AML/FT compliance and ICT risk;
- Engage and address any regulatory issues that may arise in the normal course of the supervised entities' business to ensure that the level of compliance with applicable regulatory standards is maintained;
- Liaise with the various Functions and Directorates of the Authority in the handling of the various projects and tasks, as well as other Governmental bodies and act as point of contact, when required;
- Participate in local, EU, and international fora, including the relevant committees of the European Supervisory Authorities;
- Undertake any other supervisory tasks or projects as delegated by line management; and
- Act as a digital finance and FinTech champion within the MFSA
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Head and/or as may be required by the MFSA from time to time based on the exigencies of the Authority
- Strong knowledge of financial services regulation, including VFA, FIA, AML/CFT, and ICT risk frameworks.
- Proven ability to conduct supervisory assessments and compliance inspections of regulated entities.
- Analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with sound regulatory judgment.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
