Carries out vehicle roadworthiness tests, ensures compliance with safety standards, and records inspection results accurately.Key Responsibilities: Carry out roadworthiness inspections on vehicles in accordance with Transport Malta regulations and VRT testing procedures. Assess vehicle safety systems, including brakes, suspension, steering, tyres, and lights. Check compliance with environmental regulations (emissions and noise levels). Identify and record vehicle defects, categorising them according to severity. Input and update inspection results in the VRT system/software. Issue test certificates, including pass, fail, or advisory notices. Provide professional customer service by explaining test results and advising on necessary repairs. Ensure that all testing equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and used according to guidelines. Comply with Transport Malta’s quality standards, health & safety rules, and station procedures. Requirements: Valid Transport Malta-issued VRT Tester licence (Category A and/or B depending on vehicle type). Solid knowledge of Maltese and EU road safety standards and vehicle regulations. Technical background in automotive mechanics or engineering (MQF Level 3+ qualification in Automotive Engineering or equivalent preferred). At least 2 years’ experience in the automotive/aftersales sector (mechanical, diagnostic, or inspection role). Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reporting. Good communication skills in Maltese and English (written and spoken). Computer literacy for data entry and use of VRT software. High level of integrity and professionalism. Desirable Skills: Experience in vehicle diagnostics and repairs. Customer service experience. Knowledge of hybrid/electric vehicle systems.ProfilesCompetencies
