About the DepartmentThe regulation and supervision of company service providers falls within the remit of the MFSA and in fact the MFSA has a specific function designated with the responsibility for the authorisation as well as the supervision of company service providers. The function's main objective is to ensure that licensed company service providers have the appropriate structures and systems in place to service clients adequately whilst at the same time preserving their reputation as well as Malta's reputation, taking into account our international commitments. A mixture of tools are utilised with respect to supervision, consisting of both supervisory engagements such as inspections as well as offsite work and thematic assessments.About the RoleKey responsibilities may include the following tasks and workstreams:
  • Reviewing off-site reporting, including Annual Financial Returns and financial statements;
  • Assisting in the preparation of pre-visit preparatory work;
  • Participating in, or assisting and supporting other staff members in, the conduct of onsite inspections and other supervisory engagements of authorised Company Service Providers;
  • Carrying out ad hoc assignments related to specific regulatory and supervisory issues that may arise from time to time, while taking into consideration the Authority's expectations of applicable law, rulebooks, and thematic reviews carried out, and reporting the outcome of such assignments as may be appropriate;
  • Reviewing and assessing applications submitted by prospective Company Service Providers;
  • Assessing the suitability of members of the Board of Directors and of Key Function Holders;
  • Drafting memoranda to be presented to the relevant decision-making bodies within the MFSA;
You will also undertake any other duties as assigned by the Head and/or as may be required by the MFSA from time to time based on the exigencies of the Authority.About youYou will hold qualification at MQF Level 6 or higher in Law, Finance, Accountancy and Banking or in any other finance related background.A minimum of three (3) years prior experience is required, preferably within the financial services sector or related fields.If you do not have the necessary academic qualifications but have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.The ideal applicant should demonstrate the following skills/competencies:
  • Have an interest in financial services;
  • Be self-driven with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines;
  • Have the ability to prioritise and deliver quality work under pressure;
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and strive for quality and accuracy in reports produced;
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Have the ability to build collaborative working relationships, both internally within the Authority and with external stakeholders; and
  • Demonstrate sound analytical skills.
