Internal Audit Manager

The Internal Audit Manager will oversee the Company’s governance, risk management, and internal control framework, ensuring that risks are anticipated, assessed, and mitigated effectively. This role provides independent insight into financial, operational, and compliance activities, safeguarding company assets and supporting strategic decision-making to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.Key Responsibilities
  • Audit Leadership: Direct the full internal audit process, including planning, execution, reporting, and follow-up actions to ensure robust governance.
  • Risk Management: Maintain and update the company’s risk register, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and providing proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with management to anticipate potential risks and implement solutions to protect the business and optimise processes.
  • Compliance Oversight: Serve as a second line of defence by monitoring adherence to internal governance frameworks and conducting gap analyses.
  • Process Optimisation & Reporting: Analyse internal procedures for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and profitability improvement, and present audit and risk findings to senior management and relevant committees.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in financial or risk management roles within the sector.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English; proficiency in Maltese is advantageous.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication to present complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to collaborate productively with teams across multiple levels of the organisation.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; solid understanding of Maltese financial regulations.
  • Organisation: Excellent planning and project management skills to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
  • Self-Motivated: Demonstrates initiative and drive to achieve results within dynamic operational environments.
  • Problem-Solving: Capable of evaluating risks and devising practical solutions to safeguard business interests.
