The ideal candidate will lead by example, fostering a collaborative and creative team environment, and will have a hands-on role in planning, assigning, and reviewing tasks to meet project milestones. Strong leadership, project management skills, and deep artistic expertise are essential, along with excellent communication abilities for seamless cross-departmental collaboration. Experience in managing outsourcing, a keen awareness of current marketing trends, and adaptability to new technologies are also crucial. This role requires a candidate who can mentor team members, promoting professional growth while ensuring the art department’s work aligns perfectly with our game’s vision and standards.Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain workflows, art pipelines, and best practices for art production, asset management, and version control to maximize efficiency and quality.
- Manage the outsourcing pipeline, including selecting vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality assets that meet the project’s standards.
- Stay informed on current and emerging trends in marketing-related artwork, ensuring that game visuals and promotional materials are compelling and enhance player engagement and acquisition.
- Lead and manage the art team, overseeing the development in close collaboration with the Art Director.
- Plan, assign, and review team tasks, ensuring projects are completed to a high standard, on time, and within budget.
- Foster a collaborative and creative environment within the art team, providing guidance, mentorship, and feedback to team members to support their professional growth and ensure the consistent quality of art assets.
- Facilitate seamless communication between the art team and other departments, ensuring alignment on project goals and integration of art assets into the game engine.
- Participate in the recruitment and onboarding process for new art team members, identifying talent that fits the team’s needs and culture.
- Regularly review and assess the art team’s workload and capacity, adjusting project timelines and resources as necessary to meet production milestones.
- Identify artist strengths and weaknesses to assign work in the art department to the best fit.

- Job Requirements
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with a focus on guiding the art team and ensuring timely project delivery.
- Deep artistic expertise and technical proficiency in art production workflows and best practices.
- Strong knowledge and prior experience using industry tools for managing teams in production
- General knowledge of various tools, programmes and softwares.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork and cross-departmental coordination.
- Experience in managing outsourcing pipelines, including vendor selection and quality control.
- Awareness of marketing-related artwork trends to create compelling game visuals.
- Ability to mentor team members, fostering a growth-oriented environment.
- Adaptability to new technologies and industry trends, ensuring continuous improvement and innovation.
- Minimum of 8 years industry experience
- Portfolio: You need to showcase a portfolio that demonstrates your skills as an artist.
- CV in English clearly highlighting character, knowledge and experience with software and tools, and professional experience
- Relocating to Malta, if not already based in Malta
