We also advocate for inclusion, educate the public and raise awareness among peers.General Scope & Purpose of the PositionWe are currently seeking a Freelance Occupational Therapist to join the Write Start Initiative, an 8-week summer early intervention programme in Gozo designed to support neurodivergent children aged 3–5.The programme focuses on developing essential pre-writing, fine motor, visual motor, and sensory motor skills, helping children build strong foundations for school readiness and reducing early educational gaps.In this role, you will deliver structured, evidence-based group sessions (1 hour per week, up to 3 groups) at the Inspire Centre in Għajnsielem. You will provide safe, consistent, and individualised support, while working closely with families and Inspire staff to help children transfer their skills into home and school environments.This is a project-based opportunity, and applicants are required to submit a quotation based on their hourly rate.What you will be doing
  • Deliver up to three weekly group therapy sessions (1 hour each) over the 8-week programme for children aged 3–5
  • Plan and facilitate structured, play-based activities targeting fine motor, visual-motor, coordination, postural control, and pre-writing skills
  • Adapt sessions to meet the diverse developmental, sensory, and attentional needs of neurodivergent children
  • Conduct baseline and end-of-programme assessments, tracking progress and outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, including session notes and developmental observations
  • Provide clear, individualised feedback and practical recommendations to families and educators
  • Collaborate with Inspire staff to ensure consistency and quality of support
  • Guide families on strategies to support skill development at home, including routines and environmental adaptations
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of programme activities, tools, and resources
What we are looking for
  • Warranted Occupational Therapist (or equivalent qualification recognised in Malta MQRIC).
  • CPCMRegistered
  • Experience working with neurodivergent children, including those with autism, ADHD, or sensory processing differences.
  • Strong understanding of motor development, sensory integration principles, and early childhood play-based intervention.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Fluent in Maltese and English.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, child wellbeing, and inclusive practice.
Nice to have
  • Experience working in small-group therapy settings.
  • Familiarity with parent coaching, early years education, or multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Knowledge of assistive tools, pre-writing materials, and motor-skill intervention frameworks.
