This is a Software Developer opportunity in a fast-growing fintech company where your backend expertise will directly shape the user experience. In this role, you’ll work on high-volume systems and take ownership of building features from the ground up.You’ll be joining a well-established engineering team dedicated to delivering real-time, high-availability platforms using modern technologies. The team operates with strong principles, focusing on scalability, clean architecture, and continuous delivery—creating an environment where your ideas matter and your voice is heard.You’ll be collaborating in an agile team focused on core platform services, user account systems, and building new systems from scratch. Reporting directly to the Head of Development, who provides hands-on technical leadership, you’ll be supported while contributing to critical technical decisions. You’ll be using your backend expertise not only to build scalable systems, but also to contribute to the delivery of fintech applications. You’ll be using your collaboration skills to work closely with development teams and product managers, ensuring software aligns with evolving business strategies and priorities.What makes this opportunity stand out is the wide-ranging tech stack — primarily backend development with Java in SpringBoot, while exposure to databases and automation tools. You’ll be designing and implementing RESTful APIs and leveraging Redis for caching and performance optimization, ensuring scalable and responsive backend services that support real-time application needs.This is a hybrid role based in Malta, with just 2 days per week in the office, giving you the balance of focused remote work and in-person collaboration.You will:

Design and build APIs and microservices in Java
Explore and evaluate emerging technologies
Engage with stakeholders to keep development on track

Skills / Experience:

5+ years’ experience in backend development using Java
Ideally experience in databases
Exposure to containerized systems will be considered a plus
