We are currently seeking to recruit a Customs Clearance & Shipping Clerk to join its Procurement & Logistics team within the Company. The selected candidate will report directly to the Procurement & Logistics Manager.Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate all customs clearance activities for imports and exports in compliance with Maltese and EU regulations
  • Prepare, review and submit all relevant customs documentation, including import/export declarations, certificates of origin, bills of lading and packing lists
  • Handle and follow up on insurance claims related to damaged or lost shipments, coordinating with insurers and transport providers as required
  • Monitor shipment schedules and proactively communicate updates on cargo status to internal stakeholders
  • Ensure accurate tariff classification and valuation of goods in line with applicable customs requirements
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations, duty rates and trade compliance requirements, flagging any changes that may affect operations
  • Coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure timely receipt and dispatch of goods
  • Resolve any customs-related issues or delays, escalating where necessary
  • Maintain accurate records of all shipping and customs documentation for audit and reporting purposes
  • Support the Procurement & Logistics Manager with administrative and operational tasks as required.
The ideal candidate must:
  • Have previous experience in customs clearance, freight forwarding or shipping operations
  • Be familiar with Maltese and EU customs legislation, import/export procedures and Incoterms
  • Have a high level of attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Be able to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple shipments simultaneously
  • Be a strong communicator with good interpersonal skills
  • Have experience working with customs software and freight management systems
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
  • Be fluent in written and spoken English; knowledge of Maltese is an asset
  • A pleasant personality with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
