OverviewAbout the DepartmentThe Legal Affairs function provides legal advice internally across the organisation on a wide range of matters including enforcement and supervisory matters, as well as matters of an operational nature. It is also involved in the coordination and oversight of the legislative process in so far as laws administered by the MFSA are concerned. Moreover, the Legal Affairs function attends to any litigation matters and represents the Authority in any action or legal proceedings in which the MFSA is involved or has an interest.About RoleWithin this role you will be reporting to the Litigation Advisor and will be responsible to performing the following tasks:
Handling of summons, warrants, counter-warrants and other notifications, as well as assisting the Authority’s officers in relation thereto;
Informing potential stakeholders of any relevant litigation proceedings and providing the necessary updates in relation thereto;
Drafting of judicial acts or other court-related documents;
Filing of judicial acts on behalf of the Authority within the time limits and carrying out the necessary follow-ups of the acts filed in court;
Taking instructions from advocates within the Authority and informing them of the outcome of acts filed, decrees and deadlines to be met;
If and where necessary, assisting in litigation proceedings;
Procuring of judgments, bill of costs and updates of decrees;
Assisting in the upkeeping of the Function’s records;
To perform such other function or duties as may be assigned.
