We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse to join our team and provide high-quality healthcare services to students and staff members. The School Nurse will play a crucial role in promoting and maintaining the physical and mental well-being of our school community.The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for working with children and adolescents.Responsibilities:
- Provide primary healthcare services to students, including assessment, treatment and referral for illness and injuries
- Be the main point of call when a medical issue or emergency arises
- Ensure that all first aid supplies are properly maintained and replenished when necessary
- Administer medication according to physician orders and school policies, ensuring accuracy and safety
- Conduct health screenings and assessments to identify health issues and facilitate early intervention
- Educate students, staff, and parents on related topics, including nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention (using organized seminars)
- Collaborate with staff to address health-related concerns and promote a positive school environment
- Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Monitor immunization records and ensure compliance with state and school immunization requirements
- Participate in school safety and emergency preparedness initiatives, including developing and implementing response protocols
- Make sure that the staff’s health and safety training is up to date
- Serve as a liaison between the College, community healthcare providers, and public health agencies
- Collaborate with teachers, counsellors, and administrators to support the overall well-being of students, including mental health support and crisis intervention
- Maintain confidentiality of student health information
- Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Strong clinical assessment and triage skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff members
- Experience working in a school or pediatric healthcare setting is preferred.
